No codes stored so I threw in a new ignition module just because I had one on the shelf and still SES stays lit. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help. BTW, no recent mods.
SES usually means battery problem, alternator problem, or aftermarket radio transplant.
Thanks for your reply. The battery is fairly new and charged regularly with a battery tender, the alternator was replaced last year and the radio has been in for 4 years with no ill effects. I guess the alternator could have gone bad but wouldn't the volts light come on if that were the case? I seem to remember that's what happened last year.
If the light stays on all the time, you have open/grounded circuit to the ECM.
The SES light flashes when pulling codes but stays on when engine is running. I don't know if it's related, but right before the SES light came on, I had the surging rough idle problem I had a few weeks ago. I changed the wires, plugs cap & rotor at that time and seemed to solve the idle problem because I drove about 200 miles with no idle problem at all. Could this be an intermittant EGR problem? Thanks for your help and reply.
