There is some shocks on ebay called bilstein HD for 289 for all 4 shocks. So are these the same shocks that are the Z51 option for early C4 vettes or are they cheap base model shocks from bilstein, in the picture they are yellow with a light blue rubber boot?
Would these be worth getting or are they crap?
But anything is better than what I have, mine are all leaking and are the originals on the car non Z51.

I have a 1989 Z51 with the original HD (sport version) Bilsteins. They are coupled with the FE7 high performance suspension. At 47K they are still pretty stiff. I am considering getting the standard Bilsteins to soften the ride a little. Both versions are interchangable but the valving is different.
The Z51 shocks are valved stiffer then the stock Bilsteins therefore your ride will be stiffer. You will have less body lean in hard cornering though therefore your handling will improve.
The difference is very noticible. If you can't take a harsh ride they are not for you.
You will find that many people on CF have the good intentions to try something out. Being possibly swayed by, "better, faster, easier, cheaper, longer-lower-wider".
And then, being smart enough to recognize an error, change that something to another part. At THEIR cost. It's called a "learning experience".
And frequently, some of us LIKE to learn from other people's errors BEFORE we do them ourselves.
I would have thought that was your original reason for posting the question.
My understanding is that Larry (Rocco16) bought and used the Edelbrock shocks, didn't like them and swapped them out for Koni's. So yes, based on his (expensive) firsthand experience, I would believe what he says.
Personally, I think that one of the great things about this board is that you can learn from others' experiences. I certainly can't afford to buy a set of each of those shocks just to give it a try - I'm still running on 17 year-old stock delcos and saving up for some Bilsteins.
