I have a 94 roadster and I have replaced the plastic door switches 3 or 4 times. After a while, they start acting up. You know, interior lights coming on, doors unlocking and locking, radio refusing to cut off when you open the door etc.
I was wondering if anybody else is had this problem and found a solution.
I am getting tired of replacing those plastic switches.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
These switches truly suck. There's simply no polite way to say how poorly they hold up. I replaced my driver's side switch a while back with a brand new OEM switch from the Chevy dealer, and it began sticking within a month (and, yes, I lubricated the plunger at install and again when it began sticking). And I'm far from the only one who's had problems with these switches. They are junk.
This stupid little switch is one of the chronic, nagging issues that should have been resolved early in the C4's production run, but was never addressed. It is begging for an aftermarket solution.
Thanks for the reply.
I have even tried to shim them, but to no avail.
I was hoping that there was somebody out there that had solved the issue.
I wonder if the switches are the same on coupes as roadsters.
There has got to be something we can do to solve this problem.
I've gone through 3 brand new AC-Delco switches in the last few weeks. One would stick when compressed, one did nothing, the other I haven't installed it yet but I did end up in between time removing the original again, spraying it with contact cleaner, working it a few times and re-installing it. Seems to work most of the time I just need 20mins time to install the new one and see how it does.
