The brakes on my 91 take a lot of effort to push and it feels like the car will not stop. I pulled the wheels off and there is not any leaking in the calipers. What could be the cause? Bad booster?
You maybe right, check to see if you hear any hissing sounds from the booster. You will hear them as the car is running or when you push in the brake. If not check the vacuum coming from the engine to the booster. No vacuum you could have a vacuum leak and thus no power to the breaks.
I'd bet it's your booster. I had the exact same issue and just replaced it. You can get a replacement from Autozone for $99 including a refundable 20 core charge.
