"Challenged" by an Escort GT
So I'm chillin with some friends in a McDonald's parking lot (one of my friends works there, hehe) when this kid pulls up in a black Escort. Him and his passenger look at my car and start laughing. I ask him what's so funny, and he's like "That you paid so much for that car, and I can still smoke you" I told them "Sorry ladies, you aren't worth the time nor the gas, get lost" He then attempts to do a burnout and fails, making an foot of himself :conehead Then floors it out of the parking lot. Where do they get these people..? Anyway, do you guys think I had a chance against him? :jester

Dude you don't even have to ask. EscosrtGT's aren't fast at all. Way back when I beat one with my mom's 2.8 camaro. You were right that he wasn't worth the gas, although you wouldn't have needed much to beat him

Re: "Challenged" by an Escort GT (R94 LT 1)
Just knowing what you have is all you need. A smile and a shake of the head is all that is needed. You showed real class in keeing your cool, and showed your friends what you are made of. Besides I think the idiot in the Escort just wanted to see you from behind as you smoked down the road. Remeber "Keep it on the track".

My daughter has one, nice little motor but stock I could take it easy with my 90. However, you always have to be wary of the little blue bottle hiding somewhere in the trunk. He may have been baiting you. Some of these guys could care less about engine longevity and blow a lot of nitrous through the motors. Then they just replace the motor when all the pistons have holes in them. Go figure.

Be careful of Turbo Dodges
I only drive vettes and turbo dodges, and with 35$ worth of mods those damned 2.2 and 2.5L turbos can do 14's
with a few hundred bucks they hit the low 14's high 13's and i personally have seen and built MANY a 12 second Omni , Shadow, Minivan etc...
But they are UGLY and not nearly as comfy as my 96 lt4.
I also have a 91 shadow as my snow car, which has a 2.5L turbo, and unfortunately, its faster than my vette when i turn the boost up. I do love to race Civics with HUGE spoilers in it though. cuz no one will race the vette, too scared!

$35.00 to a few hundred beats a Vette? Low 14's, 13's 12's Get out of here!!!   :bs :bs :bs I take my chances against any rice or domestic stock junk thing you got. I'll give you a $35.00 to $400.00 mod limit as you say then we will bet the ranch and see what you can do against a stock Vette!      :jester

Re: I'm not kidding (Snackdragons)
I saw the mods list and alot more than a few hundred was spent to get it to this point. I am still amazed and overwhelmed that something that ugly would even try to compete!!! However to each his own and I admire being different! So I apologize for the eletist attitude but it seems that way more than a few hundred was spent on mods.
I bet they have won more than a few bets!!!

Hey, Nothing wrong with being ELITIST
HEY! nothing wrong with being elitist, unless you own a HONDA.
Yeah, he did alot more, i am spending about 5000$ on my Shadow, including purchase price, to break into the 13's. It's a great beater/sleeper, and when it brakes, i throw it away, and pick up a new one for a few hundred dollars.

   Great way to beat the insurance crooks! I have 5 vehicles and a 16 yr old and a 19 year old plus a dangerous driving wife   My beater is a 1987 S-10 Blazer. Actually its got 150,000 miles and still going strong. I pais $2,000.00 for it 6 years ago with 50000 miles. Bought it from an insurance yard and spent $500.00 in body parts to make it look great.
It will never run worth a darn with a 3.8 but it sure saves me a ton of insurance $$$ and hauls alot of junk around when I need it. If I had more time I would love tolower it, put a Built 350, turbo 400 and straight pipes in this thing and scare a few ricers!! :D

Good job Drewdog! You were right about them not worth the time nor the gas! Next time, tell them to hurry back before the curfew or else pappy won't let him take the 'rocket' out again... :D

i'm 22. My insurance SUCKS
I'm 22, i have 3 cars, my allstate agent, THANK GOD, has my vette as a pleasure driver, and the Shadow as the daily/primary car.
my father drives a 72 stingray vert, with a 4 spd, and zz4 crate motor, hi flow exhaust, the thing is LOUD and the front wheels KISS the sky when you floor it. 4.11's i believe.
my moms grocery getter is a 94 callaway 6 spd firebird formula with all options, our insurance is kinda HIGH. but worth it.

I would never let my son have a pony car
solid rear axle BAD!
my first car was a fiero, only cuz it was GREAT in rain and snow with snow tires
and because it had a better crash rating than a ford crown victoria.
