Got a call from a friend last night. He was at the Vette show in Mackinaw City, MI and his "no charge" warning came on in his 94. He has little access to tools and no access to service information. Can anyone help with some simple checks we can make? Thanks!!

What does the digital volts read. If it is under 13.5 I would say the alternature went bad. It should read 14 to 14.6 volts for a normal range. Could drop below 14 but not usually more than .1 or .2 volts -unusual. If he is in the 12 volt range he is not charging at all.

Voltage reads 12.6 volts when the engine is running. We are pretty sure the alternator is not charging. Any Idea what voltages should be present at the back of the alternator is this internally regulated or ECM controlled?

The regulator is in the alternator, the PCM has nothing to do with it. Sounds like you are not charging and need the alternator.

94s have a PCM first year it changed.

Just do the basics and check battery connections for anything loose.
