i have been looking into the power effects myself and i have some people telling me i cant get them and i have Joe from Power Effects telling me i can but they are on hold until they get a manufacturer problem worked out... I think Vader has stated that this has been there response for a couple of years now and i am starting to beleive him.........
i have finally heard the PE system and im freaking furious that i cant get this system NOW.....it is by far the best sounding system i have heard on the C4
I have one on my 96 LT4 and has been on the car since I purchased it from the original owner back in late-2001.
Overall I think the system is pretty nice but not loud enough for my tastes. I have no real basis for a power comparison as I never drove the car with the stock exhaust but I got a 12.8 1/4 out of the car with JUST the exhaust on it.
I am actually thinking about selling it to fund a much lighter custom system (I need to shed about 400lbs).
EDIT - I can try to get some video clips if anyone wants to hear it.
Not quite. This is one of the pre-you-can't-get-the-****-anymore systems that goes back to at least 2000. The tips *were* chrome at one time but the coating has been steadily pealing off the past 3 years. All things considered the tips are the ONLY thing on the system that hasn't held up over time.
One of these days I'll yank them off and refinish them but I have yet to find a way to remove them without taking the entire system off the car first and if I do that it isn't going back on.
I won't sell it until I get the new system on the car so it may be a little while.

Are you sure you've got a PE system? My tips are painted black and can easily be unbolted from the mufflers to touch up if needed. The mufflers and tips are cast aluminum and come painted.
The reason they are a pain to get off without dropping the system is that the top bolts are sort of hidden behind stuff that can't be moved until the top bolts are taken out. I do seem to recall having taken them off before though so maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend if I find the motivation. I used to like working on cars - then I became a mechanic, got sick of it and went into IT. I haven't turned wrenches in years and I still don't feel like doing things like taking exhaust tips off to clean them. :P

Those powereffects things sound like muffler elims? Why not just get a set of those cheap, paint the tips black since you don't want them shiney and pop those on. Sounded just like my buddy's 84 when he had muffler elims on.
It is nowhere near as loud as it would be with eliminators.
You can close them and they really quite things down. even open they sound better then eliminators. check out the clip ruffneckxx posted. At about 2 to 3 minutes into the clip it gets really good!!

Have to turn up the volume, though, to get the full effect.
When I lived in Maryland we had a sweet tunnel nearby. Now that I am on the NC coast the best I can do is driving close to the back wall of Walmart . . .

Don't hold your breath. The problem with their manufacturer dates back to early 2003. In other words, it's been 3 1/2 years. (The same holds true for "Side Effects Side Exhaust".
You only will be able to get the parts that are NOT made in a steel foundry. The foundry automated/re-tooled in 2002. I don't think Lawrence-Keech can present orders for high enough volume to warrant the necessary switch-over. (At least that's the only explanation I can think of that makes any sense).
Had a PE for my '94 and it sounded MAGNIFICENT. However, I was primarily taking road trips and more leisure driving and it had an annoying resonance at the exact rpm range I did most of my cruising. If you're into performance driving and sounding good, the PE is definitely the one.
