I replaced my opti a year and a half ago with parts I got on ebay. For me it was the cheapest way to go and I didn't have any problems. Best to shop around, ebay doesn't always have the lowest price. $.02
Summit racing had the cheapest waterpump. I went with an MSD opti... Didn't want to go down the oem route after the new one I put in failed at 500 miles.
I don't get it. Water pump leaks, so replace the opti??? Water pump replacement is easy and not especially expensive. The optispark is a whole 'nother critter', both time and money. Why replace it just because you are 'in there' to do a waterpump? Or did the leaking pump destroy the opti??

it could be as you say or, since the opti's are known problematic as some point in the lifetime of the car, and since to replay the opti you need to also pull the water pump, it makes sense to consider upgrading to a new opti at the same time you pull a faulty water pump.///
