I'm going to take a guess... Low Tire Pressure Warning System You need to get a manual for your year Corvette to help with issues like these or refer to your owners manual it would be in there too.

Only had the car a week....has new motor and still working out the other vette bugs....those blessed things! ( Bug stomper)
That's what it is; the low tire pressure system is telling you that one (or more) tires have low enough air pressure to set off the warning light. Check the air pressure when the tires are cold and set them to the recommended pressure as shown on the driver's door. Probably 35 psi.
I didn't think that it was even a option back in 89 but that seemed like the only likely possibility to me of what it could be, and if they only had about 7000 of them in 89 then it was not that popular then, and/or sort of rare My first Corvette was an 89 too, a 6 speed with the FX3 option as well, both of which were rare too, the first year a 6 speed was offered in the Corvette.

If it's the Service LTPWS light then it's most likely not a low tire. There's a separate light for that. It's usually one of the transmitters, or recievers gone bad. IMHO it's more trouble/money than it's worth to fix. I just pulled out my service ltpws light and left it alone.
Mine is a plain ole automatic. I need to find out more about the dash. my tac does not seem to work it's all lit up,,kind of like the lights are on but no body is home.

Man, you learn somthin' new everyday. How smart are they? Do the sensors know if the wheels have been rotated? Do they have to be pulled from the wheels if a rotation is done to maintain thier assigned positions? Can they be reset? Is 89' the first year? My STS has em' but it's an 01'.

For the tachometer problem, run a test on the tach filter. It's connected to the white wire that connects to the distrubitor cap.
You can rotate the tires and the sensors will still work correctly. The SERVICE light should indicate as previously noted that one of the sensors is not transmitting. The 93 did not offer wheel per wheel info, only that one of the tires was low. Good Year recently broke the band on one of mine that holds the sensor. It's a long radiator hose clamp type device that is 50 to 55 inches long. I contacted the company that made them originally and they are not available. If you decide to eliminate them I would sure love to have one strap.
50 to 55 inches is pretty lengthy. I have thought about a piece of stainless to overlap the break and install a couple of pop rivets. The strap actually has two tabs that hold onto the sensor to keep it from sliding on the strap. I'm not sure if the plastic tie wraps will pull up tight enough or if over a period of time the heat may let them loosen and slip. Could sure be worth a try.

RPO UJ6. They started in 87 with about 46 of them sold, but they pulled them from the option list due to false signal issues apparently. Then it returned in 89.
ok I'm confused,,,as long as the tire pressure is ok then I should be fine? and if it becomes an anoying problem then I can just pull the lamp from the dash as to not look at the light?
