Default c4 wheels

I have a 93 LT1 with 285/40/17 on the rear, I am looking at buying a new set of ZR1 wheels and wondered if the 285's would fit on 17X11 rims or whether I could should just get the 17X9.5's. Can anyone lend some advise?

If you plan to stay w/ a 285 on the rear, I'd go w/ the 9.5's - as that is the stock rim size for the rears w/ a 285 tire. I had that setup on mine but recently went to an 11" rear wheel and 315's.

FWIW...From what I've read, you can put a 285 on an 11" rim but I've never seen it...

Yes, 285's will fit on an 11" rim. But, why would you do it?

If your plan is to eventually go to a 315 tire, then get the 11-inchers.
If you are going to stay with 285's, get the 9.5's.

Oh, yeah; the word is "advice"....

well pardon my english, didn't realize there were critiques out there,
the reason I was asking is because the 285's currently on my 93 will have plenty of tread and do not want to invest at this time in a pair of 315's, but would like to at some time in the near future. Thanks for your ADVICE.

I have 285s on 11 inch wheels right now. They look okay but I am going to put 315s on sometime this winter.

Fit looks ok to me...

I really wish my 315's didn't stick out quite as far as they do but I'm leery of going w/ 285's on 11's. Wish they made a 305/17 or like size in a street tire. It seems that the options for (wide tire) 17's are either 285/40's or jump to "315/35's"...which are getting kinda "scarce" btw.

Personally i would get the 11's and go with 315's for the rear. It gives a more aggressive look. 285's will work but before doing this i recommend finding someone who has done it to see what it looks like in person. IMHO i think it looks a little strange but that's just me.

I prefer the look with the 315s also but since the Yokohama tires are like new I was going to use them for the summer and change them this winter.

I would say it depends on the manufacturer of the 285s as the width between the different companies varies greatly. Firestone 285s, for example, are narrower than most company's 275s.

Can someone help me, it's sunday evening and I just bought a set of wheels, 2 17x 11's and 2 17x 9.5's

I can probably change my order until tomarrow morning,

can someone send me pics of a Kumho 285/40-17 mounted on a 17x11, it may be quite awhile before I will be able to buy the 315/35/17's that I will eventually end up with.

If you're sure that you will eventually be going to 315's keep the 11's. The 285's will be fine in the interim...(or sell 'em) or move the 285's to the front & get some Sumitomos in 315's for the rear...they're cheap.

Well, ya' went and done it again....

The word you are looking for is "critics".

As in "Critics are persons who give critiques on work."
