How embarrassing would this be?
Okay Okay... I know with $$$$$ you can make anything fast but this is just silly. I met a guy today in Festus MO that has a gold 01 twin turbo Chrysler minivan that he claims runs low 11s. I didn't get to ride in it or anything because I was at work, but I did get to watch him make short work of an Acura RSX... he absolutely destroyed him!!! Now that would make me sick if I lost to a minivan
Just put the same amount of $$$ in your vette and you'll own him. No substitute for cubic inches. Although it was funny as he!! to have my dad take apart a new (at the time-1986) Firebird with his brand new Dodge Shelby OMNI turbo-4. Could you imagine gettin' owned by an Omni?
I saw a clip a few weeks ago of a C5 getting it's head ripped off by a 4-door Saturn. These two guys just wouldn't believe it and kept going after this Saturn over and over trying to just keep up ! They got pulled away from QUICKLY every time from standing starts to really embarrassing rolling runs too UnFreakin' believable!!! I have no idea how much boost it takes to do that, but the C5 that my buddy has is one of the hardest excellerating cars I've ever been in and I can't imagine being walked away from by a 4 door Saturn..
i've seen a video of a mini-van at the track making short work of a few cars. I thought it was on this board but it may have been over at sportruck.com. I think it ran the quarter in the mid 10's. Waste of dough in my opinion, but if you got cash to burn and a mini-van laying around...I could see a few people doing it for the fun of it.

Back in the mid 60s I was going to college near Pontiac, Michigan. We used to go over to Woodward Ave where we would see folks driving factory sleepers such as 4 door sedan Ford Galaxies and Chevy Biscaynes who were smoking everything that came by. They were obviously packing big blocks. There were rumors of a 4-door 66 plain jane Chevy Nova with a big block that looked like granny's grocery getter but I never saw it.

RE: the Omni.
I hear that!! Went to an autocross one time - lots of "heavy duty" machinery there - Vette's, 427 Cobra's, turbo Porches and the like . . . and a turbo Dodge 4 dr Omni cleaned their clocks.

The mini van belongs to Scarey Barry's Tours. They advertise: 5 people, twice the sights, half the time.

I had a 63 Galaxie 500 XL factory four door, four speed with a 352 c.i. engine. One of only 11 made. Totalled it when I was 16. My first and last true sleeper. Lucky it didn't put me to sleep permanently. I like sleepers though no matter what the configuration. Van, pick up or grocery getter.
Yep, been there.
Had a new '85 Mustang GT, 5speed. Little GLH (stood for GOES
LIKE HELL), Came up to a light one early morning and we
had a little go at it. Talk about a horizon job! The guy
was a block ahead of me by 2 gear.
They had alot of torque steer otherwise the ultimate
sleeper.
