And at the end of the day he gets in a minivan and you get in a corvette. Besides you can toss some money at the vette and walk away from him and we won't even talk about cornering, braking, etc.
In '65, I stuffed a '56/265/4-bbl SBC into a '54 Chevy stick sedan. Not because I wanted to build a sleeper-it was the only body and engine I had and I didn't like walking! I used to challange '57 Chevys-$5 off the line and $5 at the end. Never won/lost any money but had a lot of fun. That torque tube drive train was the worlds biggest traction bar. That's when I first figured out it's all a matter of weight, HP and traction-looks don't matter. Long live sleepers!
I love sleepers. Back when I was young (like the late 60's) I rememeber cruising with my older brother in his 442, we pulled up to a stop light next to a couple of guys in a 4 door Biscayne. I looked at my brother trying to get him to "go", all he did was shake his head NO. When that big old boat took off, the front tires were in the air. Dang, who would have guessed, I think my brother had made that mistake before.
It doesn't take a ton of money, check out some of the other cars there.
i was just about to post donowan's website, but i see it is already on here, now that would be a shame to get your **** handed to you by a 2 door reliant
Back when I had my first car (67 rs Camaro, overcammed 327/M22) I thought I was hot stuff. A plain looking 3/4 ton Chevy pickup with a mild(but healthy) 454 showed me all about automatics and Big Block torque. The way that thing left me I may as well have thrown it in reverse
I hear that!! Went to an autocross one time - lots of "heavy duty" machinery there - Vette's, 427 Cobra's, turbo Porches and the like . . . and a turbo Dodge 4 dr Omni cleaned their clocks.
That thing absolutely screamed around the course.
It's too bad my dad didn't wait another year to pick up the GLH, they also added an intercooler in 87. WOW
From: levittown pa. usa Even a bad day with my `Vette, is better than a good day at work

For enough money, you can make a shopping cart fast. The point is that you have to look cool while you are going fast, & what looks better than a `Vette going fast. Hell even if you lose to a TT minivan. you at least, still are driving a `Vette.
