Nice to be here with other Corvette enthusiasts. After reviewing various threads, this looks like a great place to gather information. Basics: White ’95, six-speed coupe. First time owner. I am looking to change my plugs and reviewed a few threads last night. Does anyone know of any special tools to access the forward plugs? Any hints or things to watch out for?
there are several tricks & tools that make installing plugs easier, one trick to installing/starting the threads is to slip a plug neck firmly into a 18" section of fuel line, this allows the plug to be easily dirrected into place, spun and aligned in a tight place
cutting a standard socket to shorter length helps at times
Welcome to the Forum, there is one simple tool that i can leave you with and thats never change your plugs outside if it is late fall and the sun is going down. It takes me back to the first time I changed mine and I didn't have a garage, when I started it was sunny and cool but a nice fall day , and as the hours rolled by because the plugs aren't as easy as they look and it takes some time to figure some tools to work properly, the sun went down and it got very cold and every little sharp edge the my engine has just seemed to scrap my nuckles and forearms. All I can say is, I'm glad I don't carry a bat around in my car for protection . This was 12 yrs ago and I still remember it as if it was yesterday. Nice warm garage and some of your favorite tunes will get you through, just take your time !
