Default Cooling problems resolved.

Alright it's only taken me a month and a half (got a little one on the way so the Vette has been way down on the "Honey Do" list) but I finally got my cooling problems fixed thanks to the help of the forum (rickreeves1, Jet-Jock, aminnich just to name a few).

It all started here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1497540.

I had replaced my water pump but was still getting a low coolant light. It turns out that the sensor in the bottom the of surge tank had gone south. Of course this sensor is part of the surge tank so I had to replace the entire unit (easy fix once you get the hose clamps off the hoses on the bottom ). After dropping the new tank in and burping the system, the Vette is staying at a happy 204° at idle.

So this is for the Forum . Thanks guys for all of your help. (Now it's time to tackle the headlight bushings )

speaking of which, i ALWAYS get this light on.. goes on, goes off... doesnt effect the temp any.. just goes on and off randomly...

anyone know where this sensor is on an 89?

I am gung-ho into fixing all the little annoyances these days... im trying to get it back 100% reliable again

Not too sure about the where it would be on an 89, but on my 96, it's located on the bottom of the surge tank (a 2 wire plug). I'm assuming that it's a type of float sensor because on the new surge tank, I could hear the float moving around when I picked it up, but when I got the old tank off I couldn't hear anything. My guess is that the lovely Dex-Cool ( ) gummed up the old one.

Happy to hear you got it figured out. To start you off with that headlight bushing fix check out the links below. I bought my bushings from the forum store. There were also some gaskets that I didnt order before I started that I wish I could have replaced. There is also some type of grease that is needed. See posts.

Sweet, I was hoping to find a "how to" that included pictures and that first link did the trick.
