I've got a couple of questions for those who have used these guys before.
Do you have to send them a core chip after the receipt of your custom burn?
I have a '92 Vette, basically stock with cut/K&N, 3" cat back, and a Ripper shifter (not that that has anything to do with the motor). I was just curious if anybody has documented gains with their chips in similar set ups in the past. I'm planning for a heads and cam/ supercharger in about 2 years which I will deffinately need a reburn for, but I just wanted to know if it would be worth my time to get one now. Also, any issues regarding improved driveability/gas mileage?
I know there is info about these guys on the forum, I just hadn't seen anyone with a setup similar to mine with any input. Thanks
Mine was also a piggyback. Stock but for a catback and cut lit/K&N. No documentation but I definitely noticed the difference -- I would bet it is the best HP/$ you will get. It improved drivability a bit, and I noticed no change in gas mileage (maybe a bit worse because it was more fun to floor it).
Perhaps someone has done a before/after to prove it.....................

while a mail order chip may provide increased performance the tune may not be optimal.case in point,i sent my computer to pcmsforless for modifications(1 year ago) and recently took it to a chassis dyno to see if there was any improvement to be had.
i gained 5hp and 11ft lbs across the entire rpm range.i also found my computer was adding timing at high rpm leading to detonation.
i am not knocking pcmsforless by any means.i am simply stating that dyno tuning gives you the oppurtunity to see what the engine wants under actual load conditions rather than a "close guess" that may or may not be ideal for your car.
you are not that far from durham.give jeff a call at carolina auto masters(919-680-dyno).i have piece of mind knowing my tune is the best it could possibly be.
my .02 worth
PCMFORLESS = GOD when it comes to tuning these cars. I am convinced they are the best tune money can buy. On a mostly stock car you will gain something, but probably not much power, but moreso drivability.
Call it a close guess but 5hp and 11ft lbs is not that much. Datalogging the car and taking it to the dyno for a WB02 read out would probably nail those 5 hp and 11ft lbs.
Mail order is the only way to go for us guys who have no one within a 200 mile radius that will touch these cars, let alone tune them.

His tune will improve your cars performance. He has a money back guarantee if your not satisfied. I highly recommend him. You should talk to him. Dont forget it is a mail order tune which doesnt have the advantages that a tuner needs such as a dyno tune. Dyno tuners are few and far between. I think Alvin has a dyno machine at his shop. Mail order tune for now and dyno tune it for your H/C supercharger swap.

i am not bashing pcmsforless!i am simply stating that on my dyno tune i picked up 5hp and 11ft lbs ON TOP OF THE PCMSFORLESS TUNE I ALREADY HAD.
