I know this is a silly question but,
I recently inheretid a C4. It has no owners manual (I will order one soon).
I have a couple of days of nice weather left and I would like to remove the top. I used the Torx wrench and loosened the 2 bolts in the back. The top would not come off. I spent 15 minutes trying to find other catches with no luck. How do you remove the top????
thanks,
Jokerboy
There are two bolts in the front under the sunvisors in side those two holes are two more screws. The screws do no come out just loosen them. A slight tap with your hand after those screws are loose on the under side of the top and it will pop right off.
IF you get the top off, clean the gaskets and rub on a coating of diletric grease before you put the top back on. That will help the gaskets last longer and seal any small leaks they all have. Be sure the car is sitting on lever firm ground or the top won't go back on. Catch the back first, don't tighten them, them the front. IF you go for a ride with the top off, you'll feel like your driving a different car.
Now I feel stupid.
Any suggestions on the best place to get an onwer's/shop manual?
Thanks,
JB
Good luck with an owners manual. I tried Helms, Mid-America, and Ecklers. They are all black, and white photocopies, regardless of what they claim. I finally got a brand new from Jim Clements in Florida. He has an ad in Vette Vues, so if you need his number, PM me, and I will get it. Here is a picture of the one he sent me, it was brand new, and I paid $50.00, not including the leather pouch.

I purchased a Brand New Owners Manual from Davie's Corvette about 4 months ago for my 1990 (and it came with the cover). I would try them. They are in Florida, the Tampa area I think. There are usually a couple on E-Bay at any given time also.
