I would definitely get the VIN before buying it and have the VIN run through the U.S. FBI crime center to verify it was exported and not stolen. You could probably have one of the many lawmen here on the forum run the VIN for you. You should also contact the Japanese embassy to see if they could provide you with data on the car's import/export.
Just a few months ago here in the U.S. a 1969(?) Corvette was being exported from California and a law officer ran the VIN and discovered that the car had been stolen 35 years before. The car was then subsequently returned to the original owner.
Oh, another thing I noticed is that the Vette is a coupe, not a convertible. As a former coupe owner and a present vert owner I can tell you there is a tremendous difference between the two. Coupes are nice but I would never want to own another unless it was in addition to my convertible.
I would definitely proceed with exteme caution on this one as one export vehicles can be very risky and this vehicle has at least two exports in its past. Buyer Beware!!!!!

You left coast guys are a day late . When Dellboy posted the link, the seller had the car listed as a 1990 with 20 miles on it. I'm guessing he got a few e-mails from CF members and changed the ad.
