Thought I'd give you guys a try before I start chasing this gremlin. My 93 LT1 doesn't want to start when the air is damp. Yep, first thing I thought was spark. It cranks over just fine, but won't fire, but when I pulled a spark plug wire and put an old plug on it and laid it on the manifold, it was sparking. So I'm guessing fuel system. Any component there that may be sensative to humidty? But when it's dry out, it fires right up and runs great. Anyone had a similar problem? Hoping to save some trouble shooting time. Thanks!

Any Codes? Sounds like ignition or OPTI? I chased a similar problem for 2 months. after a new opti, injectors
and countless hours of troubleshooting, It turned out to be the coil. And I was getting spark. I just recalled
a similar post where he held a hair dry to the computor (with the prom access plate removed). Just a few suggestions, GOOD LUCK.
This a good site for retrieveing stored trouble codes.
Even though you are getting spark it may not be strong enough to start the engine. I don't know if the dampness is a coincedence or not. I would also check fuel pressure. It does sound igntion related or opti related.
Well I did suspect spark, as I recently replaced the water pump and at that time I replaced the opti with an MSD unit. But I thought this was an impovement over the opti, although I guess there could be a fault with the new unit. But, I figure the fact that it's getting a strong enough spark to jump the electrode on a used spark plug, although it won't start it would at least pop. It spins over just like you had the coil wire pulled, won't fire a lick.
Remember that the opti is just like a standard distributor in that condensation can occur.
I lost teh distributor in my truck to condensation and though I never checked, I believe the opti on my '93 died due to condensation.
This usually occurs in low mileage cars. My '93 had 36,000 when the opti crapped out where as my '95 the opti wwas still good after 76,000 but replaced because the water pump failed.
