Default Baptism by rain

Well got caught out in a storm last night at band practice. First time I have had the vette out while raining. Pleased to report that the BG tires held the road very well in the heavy rain, didn't feel much different than dry pavement. When I got home and put her in the garage I checked the interior for water. Could not find any except from opening the door. I was mostly concerned with the targa top but the interior was dry. Nice to know shes water tight.

Based on my experience it is either one or the other, will leak like all get out or be water tight. Glad to hear yours is the latter.

Nope, no melting. I didn't notice any different handling of the car either. Wipers worked great. Just have to clean all the dirt off now and try Rejex next. I was realy concerned about the targa top. Mine have a good sized crack on the left rear corner, about 2 inches in diameter and the right side at the rear has a chunk missing. But, I checked realy close when I got home and it was dry on the halo. At least now I know I can stand some rain if need be.

Both my C4's leak sometimes. Not very much just a drip or two when I wash them.
Both of the also do NOT leak sometimes.
They seem to have a mind of their own.

Both of these cars would have heart attacks if they got out in the rain.

My Z06 is a little different... it would have a heart attack if it saw sunlight OR moonlight, etc. .
She's my garage queen.

What were you thinking! You have sorely devalued your car now.

Is that one of those cars that's got 20,000 miles and is "always garaged"?

I've always wondered how that's done. Do you drive the car on rollers in the garage floor, or is the garage attached to the car, so it goes whereever you do?

And on that subject of cars that have "never seen rain", how does the car tell the difference between rain and hose water (from washing)?

Mine is a daily driver and in south Florida, we have to drive in the rain very often, as in this morning.

I just sold a '92 Camaro that was hard to drive in the rain, the back tires would not hook up. I mean just trying to leave a red light would spin them. My 93 coupe handles great in the rain, you have to try to get the tires to spin or see the ASR light. I have been caught in the rain, but then I had to wash and wax it out ASAP. So I do not take it out if rain is threatening, but I did take it to Carlisle this August and the clouds had me nervous.

Nope. It's one of those cars with 1,781 miles on it.
No zeros on that number, just the 4 digits. Looks like 445 miles a year on average.
I didn't put ALL those miles on it. It had NINE miles on it when it was delivered.

It's has HEARD rain...on the garage roof but has never even SEEN rain.
Unless it peeked thru the garage windows.

It's also NEVER been washed. It has had several Zaino baths but has NEVER had a hose sprayed on it.

I do have a set of rollers that it sits on at times so I can move it close to the wall but the majority of the time it sits on carpet on its wheels and tires.

How is that possible you say?
Welllllll..... I have TWO other Vettes, TWO pickup trucks, a Prelude Si, a little 5 speed Cavalier and a LS1 Camaro to drive.

Somehow I don't think you actually 'believe' that my Z06 has never 'seen' rain.

BTW, I learned this quirky 'Vette' behavior from a Vette buddy here in town. He has one that never goes out in the rain and is never hose washed. His Vette looks brand new too.

I do have the 'Weather Channel' and if there's rain within 100 miles it just stays in the garage, under ... NOT ONE but TWO car covers.

Yes there are a few of us out here who have those cars that have never been in the rain OR washed OR sprayed with water.

Z06... NEVER SEEN RAIN
'91 Coupe... Not driven when rain is in the forecast but HAS been in the rain.
'84 Coupe... Not driven when rain is in the forecast, HAS been driven in the rain.
'73 Super Cheyenne... BOught NEW, Not driven when rain is in the forecast, has NOT been in the rain since I got through painting/restoring it.

The rest of them are 'all weather' vehicles.
