Digital Gauges change

I usually keep the digital gauge display on my 93 set to "Coolant" (I guess I'm just **** about overheating). Lately I've noticed the display will switch to "Volts" or "Oil Temp" without my pushing the gauge button.

Is this common or is it a warning that something is starting to go wrong?

i have nothing to add to this thread except mine stay's on coolant and oil pressure all the time too...

but ive never had them change to the next setting in their own before.

The digital cluster has alot of issues. Wrong readings, screw ups, flickering once it gets old.

Mine jumps to volts if the alt is not putting out enough.

Like just after the engine fire catches before idle RPM is acheived.

This is normal. The gauge cluster will red flag the "out of normal" perimeters value and auto switch to that guage, until the value is back to normal.
