Six months ago I had my ignition switch replaced because of a frequent no start situation. Now, six months later I am having a similar problem. I don't drive the car very often except on wk ends. Twice in a month though it would not start, not only no power to the ignition switch but also everything else as well. I was told to check battery and connections. I took battery out and had it tested and it checked out ok. All connections are clean and tight except haven't checked chassis ground yet. Last time I made several attempts and then finally I noticed the security lite on instrument panel was flashing again when I got in. Then I was finally able to go home. Any ideas? The car is a 91 with the L 98. It also has the quick disconnect on battery. Thanks for any help, Jay
I guess I'd look at it the same way I diagnose my PC power problems at home... check to see if it's plugged in. In this case, like you put it, maybe you need to double check your ground for a bad connection. It's always a quick check... hope it's a simple issue to resolve!!
Next time it doesn't start and you have no electrical power, check for 12v on both sides of your disconnect. I'll bet you find that your disconnect isn't making good connection! Then, throw the disconnect away and buy a battery tender instead!
