I would do so to. Is there enough metal to blend the shape OK? If I remember right the head is D shaped and the Hedman is oval shaped? Something about the shapes not matching.

Did some checking today, and the difference between Hooker and Hedman is the Hooker primaries are 16 gauge steel, the Hemans are 14. Not enough to ever notice.

Still need to verify the flanges are 3/8 thick..Hookers are 5/16
Every retailer I spoke to said comparison of fitment was a tossup.
Hedmans are looking better and better.

www.dmpolish.com

Charges $180, top quality coating...Does them one at a time, no produciton stuff.

You can get Hedman with 3/8" flanges. I believe the Elite's have them.

My experience when adding headers is that along with a free flowing exhaust system it moves the bottle neck for the movement of air from the exhaust system to the intake system. I would expect you to really feel a difference in how quickly the motor will rev and how much more mid and upper rpm range power you will have.

The stock intake system on our L98's is, from my reading, quite limited to 4500 rpm for all practical purposes and is well shy of the redline of 5500 rpm. So by adding the headers you should gain the maximum bang for your buck and still be shifting at the correct rpm without getting into the redline. Safety and longevity!

The only draw back I've experienced is that the under hood heat is so intense it destroyed a good starter in six months and considering all of the tightly fitted plastics under our hoods, I will be paying for the ceramic coating for sure. You might also notice a more pingy sounding exhaust from under the hood, but it helps the permanent smile once you feel it.

14 guage steel is thicker than 16 guage.

Try Summit and see what comes up.
Hey Cuisinart was it CFI-EFI you were talking to? If so what model of Headmans was he recommending. If it is CFI-EFI I would like to know his opinion on this matter.

thanks,

...the untouched "D" shaped exhaust port measured 1.35" wide X 1.30" tall. The untouched header size right at the flange measures 1.22" wide X 1.55" tall,...
Indeed a little blending at the sides may help flow but the mismatch at the bottom of the D port will help stop exhaust gas reversion.

Yes, it was he who told me about them. They were the Husler series...These particular ones werent for a Vette but a SBC nonetheless. I think the Hedmans are a better value (and Im a long time Hooker header fan)

Am I correct in assuming that long tubes are the way to go or is that all that's available. Also, I'll draw on your collective experience...who makes the best ones for fit and performance?
Pretty rediculous ain't it?

Easily more than enough. Like I said, mine will only need a mere .015" "blend" which in all honesty, is probably a waste of time even worrying about, since it's so small of a difference. But since I have several weeks before I start doing any part swapping, every little thing like that will be taken care of to kill some time.
