At what point do you just gut it and make it a super light quicker/faster Vette?

At what point in regards to mileage, cost etc etc do you just turn your C4 into a super fast/quick lightweight hot rod. You know like the olden days, when you just did whatever you could to have super fun with it. No creature comforts, AC just a boulevard bruiser.
Anyone done this? Or about to?

Getting very tempting with my POS '89. It's gonna be a track rat anyway, but also wanted to drive it around the street some, 6spd too fun not to use on those twisties around here.
Already have engine plans I'm thinking about and working on at the very least...
Although my '94 has been on track, it's my "nice" car and I bought the '89 to beat on at track events.

Converting my '94 into a dedicated race car right now.
Here are some pics from Nov 24th. I have since completely gutted the interior
http://www.zbra.com/c4/06-11-24/
Goal is to get it as light as feesable. In other words, I'm stripping EVERYTHING that it does not have to have to run, but I'm NOT spending $3000 on a carbon fiber hood just to save 10 lbs.
Mods:
Vette Brakes suspension, adjustable springs front & rear
C5 Z06 front brakes
Golen 383 short block
LE2 Heads, cam, and intake
Melrose headers and exhaust system
Corbeau seats and harnesses
etc. etc.
Goals:
>400 rwhp
<3000 lbs
