It's time for a new set of shocks. '95 C4 6-speed. 57,000 miles. Everyday driver (approx 70 miles/day highway). Live in the NE. Should I stick with the Bilsteins or are there other brands I should be considering based on cold weather conditions and daily use?
Thanks.

DD only? Then I agree with the boys above; for the money you can't beat the Bilsteins.

Where are you going to get the shocks from? I checked the GMPARTSDIRECT and they do not have any. I am looking for shocks too and am lookiing for the cheapest price on the base Bilsteins.

Thanks.

I just received Bilsteins from www.ajusa.com I only ordered the 2 rear ones for my 96. The Bilsteins seem to be nearly the same price everywhere, but ajusa comes with free shipping.

Other items on their site seem very competitive price wise, so if you're looking for something else, check back there sometime. I have been happy with their service.

Do a search for shocks and you'll find some other good opinions.

Good luck.

eshocks.com has great prices.

You're looking at $314 for all 4. Shipping is only like 20 bucks too.

The Edelbrocks are beautiful shocks, but offer no performance improvement over the Bilsteins, and they cost more.

I had them on my own C4...for about a month.

Have you priced out having them rebuilt by Bilstein? IIRC it's about $50/shock

<edit> Just looked on their site. It's $65 for non-FX3 shocks and $100 for FX3.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. I have KYB on mine.

If money isn't a factor, go with Bilstein or Koni, which is one step above Bilstein. As expected, Koni is more money than Bilstein. If you're looking for an inexpensive, but good performance shock, KYB is the way to go.

You can also try shockwarehouse.com for prices. I think that the Bilstein HD were $80.50 each.

I love my Edelbrocks. Much softer than the Bilsteins I took off and they stiffen up when needed in a corner.
