Default Brake problems?

My brakes seem to be acting pretty wierd almost like a master cylinder leak sometimes they seem to react further down than usual at low speeds, but speeding up around 50 or so, they react quicker from the compression. I'm wondering, is it possible the brakes just need to be bled or is this definitely a tell-tale master cylinder issue? This is on a 1990 and as I can recall, I don't think they've ever been "bled" so to say in the 4 + years I've owned the vehicle. Also, how long do you think it would take for them to bleed the system if I took it to a shop......or what would the standard charge be ballpark to bleed the system? TiA

If none of the bleeders break off it should only take about 10-15min to flush the entire break system. This would be recommended if the fluid is at all dirty or dark.

You might also check for a vacuum leak that could effect operation of the brake booster.

Do yourself a favor and buy a set (four) of "Speedbleeders". They are not expensive, easy to install and make bleeding a snap. Twenty minutes, max. www.speedbleeder.com

I took it down to my mechanic and gave the go ahead to bleed the system. He said it takes about an hour.(Probably isnt speed bleeding) I'm wondering whether or not its the master cylinder. He said it could be the ABS going out which he said isnt even close to cheap. Anyway, I'm tryin the system bleed first. The fluid DID look very dark as I can recall.
