i would GUESS the rad and condenser need to come out
undo the motor mount bolts and lift the motor slightly
never done a cam swap in a C4 so this is just and educated guess
i am sure someone else will chime in who has done it

What everyone said about the rad. It has to come out. Rather than raising the engine I unbolted the condenser and lifted it enough to clear the cam coming out or in. There is sufficient flex in the AC lines to do this with disconnecting.
