You  brian! I remember you LITERALLY hanging out of your car to try to get a C5er to wave back...didn't work though. Haha. I wave about 90% of the time...it's usually a waste to wave to the C5er's, the most of the wave's I seen are from C3's and early C4's...
I :seeya do you?
A few days ago I was in my other ride: a mint perfect 1978 FIAT 124 spider,
and I automatically waved at a passing C4. He didn't return the wave, but it demonstrated how the wave can infect you...
here is what I notice....Anyone with C4 and earlier year vette..they wave all of the time. But anyone with a C5..just keeps driving.. I guess they are just too good for us..

Re: The Wave Is Dead! (91DRM)
Not dead, but it seems to be dying out with the C5 guys.
Evidence:
Drove the corvette to and from work on Friday. Waved at 3 C5's - no waves back. Waved at 2 C4's got waves back!
Saturday errends, Waved at 2 C4's and 1 C3, got waves back.
I think in the last few weeks I've received 1 wave back from a C5, but anything older I almost always get waves back.
Wave is ALIVE in Central Texas and if you see me (Black 92 coupe "VETTEN") between Coleman and Abilene be ready to wave back cause I'm waving like hell!!! :seeya :yesnod: :flag
I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and thank you for serving your country. Us civilians deeply appreciate it. I have a son about your age in Army Intellegence. He works at the Pentagon two halls down from the destruction.
I'm curious to what your wave "styles" are. I always figured I was doing it "wrong," because about 20% wave at me....seldom has a C-5 waved. I'm sure it's because they're envious of my car - or maybe it's the royalty wave I effect (with my left arm, no less!).

Re: The Wave Is Dead! (91DRM)
My wave-o-meter is about 70% here in NJ. Not too shabby. Just today I was standing around my driveway, looking to help my pops fix up the Jag when this guy in a C3 drove by and waved. I wasn't even on the road, but it's definitely because we have two C4s in the driveway! Things like this are a small part of the great fun in owning a 'vette.
I rarely even get noticed by C5ers. I dont know if theyre too busy keeping posture in theyre luxary automobiles to pay attention or just dont know any better. I failed to get a wave from a millenium yellow yeaterday, and a burgundy that i always pass with some old guy driving never bothers to look my way. As for those of you who are real enthusiasts, this doesnt apply.
As for how I wave, Its usually a late spot. Left hand goes foward over dash to be seen and waves :seeya . If im real late, i wave throught the side window :seeya . and if i really see them coming, window comes down, elbow on the sill, and a :seeya .
I agree, feels great to see one in a garage and get a wave from the owner.
