Run the diagnostic on the AC system. Takes about 2 minutes... Hopefully yours is a C68 AC...

Worth looking into. You can get a recharge kit and check the pressure on the low side. I had to disconnect the battery to clear the codes and jump my compressor to take the charge.

It's R12 up to 93. Can't get the recharge kit unless you take the EPA test and get the card. But that's not too hard, I got mine last year.

Post your diagnostic results if you need further help. If it's out of gas, best to fix the leak and to put some more oil in it before you fry the compressor. I'd at least replace the Accumulator and dump 4 ozs of oil (8 ozs is system capacity) in a new one whether or not you fix any leak. You can verify that it's not leaking at the compressor shaft seal by checking for oil on the hood above it.

Get your license for R12 at www.epatest.com or any of the sites listed at www.epa.gov - you also need the right tools to do the job: a manifold gage set and a vacuum pump (to suck the air out of it if you open it up).
