Sorry I don't know what a shop would charge but if you pull the half shaft/s any good auto parts store can press in the new u-joints.
I bought a balljoint press for $59.99 and did them myself when I did the gears.

If you do it yourself it's only the cost of the U-Joints. There's nothing else that needs to be replaced.

I have no idea of the cost if you have someone else do it.

I'd help you do it in my garage for $0 and some beer. I'd hate to see what a shop would charge.

Default tutorial

Vader has a good tutorial on how to change them out.

Probably only cost you $25 per ujoint replaced. You will want to do all 4 not just one side....if one side is going, rest assured the otherside is not far behind.

Definately a lot cheaper than shop labor!!

Regular shop 60.00 hr X 5

Stealership 75.00 hr x 8

Do it yourself 2 - 6 hours

U need a C clamp and a socket to push out the old u joints, sometimes a little shot with a hammer and a punch will get them out.

New ones can go in with a C clamp and a socket, very little pressure needed.

approx 20.00 per u joint

I feel your pain. My vette has been up on jack stands for quite awhile and it gets a tad bit cold riding my motorcycle in below freezing weather. Maybe an NJ resident will step up to help.

When 90Z51 changed mine they cost $18 a pop.

I think it took him 2 hours total.

Thats insane

When I did all six u-joints on my car a few years back it probably took less than half of that time and I had never done u-joints before

I did mine twice in the last month.
Those slicks I have eat them up.
Now I have Dennys halfshafts in the rear.
It's not as bad a job as removing the C-Beam.
1 jack,2 jack stands a pickle fork, C clamp,or a vice and a pair of pliers.
5/16 swivle socket,openend 5/16 wrench I think 8mm socket.I think that is it.U-joints without the grease zerk.

Heck it's not exactly true from corner to corner in the same town, but it ain't cheap no matter where you go plus you can only hope they know what their doing. Don't forget to loosen up the glass targa top before jacking up the car. If it's older it will be more brittle than a newer one and it could crack.......happened to me.
