Default Antenna replacement?

At this time my antenna works. Seems to me with later technology a better antenna arrangement for the C4 could be put in. Has anyone done this? Maybe a whip type antenna, or something to run along the car, and put a cap in the old antenna hole? Since the car is fiberglass, it seems an antenna running along a body panel would still work?
Just curious if this has been done.

Not a bad idea, but I'd like to get rid of the motor altogether. Simpler is better.

many head units from the likes of Alpine have that built in. If you don't use the tuner, it won't raise the antenna.

As for options, I have seen some, but after fiddling with them over the years, a good ole mast still seems to work best. Especially in remote areas where the signals are weak and few and far between.

As long as it is working, I would not mess with it... More than likely, the mast will break internally, and that's a 15.00 fix.

I have a hidden antenna on my 96. Just ran it under the rear deck. Works great!!!! Now I just have to take out the antenna and fill the hole.

Exactly! That's what I thought would be better. I know that the power antenna is a source of more trouble than it's worth. What did you use? Are you going to have a bodyman fill the hole? Details man, details!

Oh, so you weren't jerking my chain? (Which is ok, I can take a joke).

I went to the car audio place, and they have an antenna you can run up one of the pillars and across the windshield. It's a simple antenna like an FM antenna for your home receiver. I'd think you could position it in a few places. Also, since the car is fiberglass, I think you could place it somewhere within the body and it would work just fine.
