91 fuel problem, .....again
anyway. did tune up and car ran great.
now the fuel pump will not engage. it will sometimes but not alway. when it does it will run for a few minutes and put out lots of pressure. then it loses pressure.
Before I change the pump again.
Is the fuel pump what gives the fuel system pressure?
I don't think it is the pressure regulator.
Is there something that could be causing the fuel pump to be intermittent that I should check before I change it again.
on the plus side after changing the pump the first time I aint scared of it, but I don't want to change it if that isn't the problem.
Thanks for the help.
if you look at my other post today (91 wont start) you will see I was helped to get to this far.
Didn't want anyone to think i was smart and figured this out myself.
Check that.
I also highly recommend you get the Helm Factory Service manual, www.helminc.com, and use the troubleshooting guides.

afraid to drive it. how do you check the relay? if it is bad is there a way to change it?Bogus was right. now that it is working again (on its own) the fuel sprays out of the valve whether the car is running or not.
I have the Chiltons and the factory manual. is there a way to get the troubleshooting guides seperately.
