I'm starting my search for a C4 Corvette. I'm currently driving a 99 Mustang GT (I know, I know, lol!) and had a 96 SS before that. I was thinking about buying a 98/99 LS1 F-body, but I've always lusted for Corvettes! I was just wondering if I could borrow some of your C4 expertise! I need to sell my GT first before I can do anything, but there is a C4 I'm tempted to go take a look at for the heck of it, since it is in my price range!. Heck, maybe they'll do a trade. I'm probably better of selling, then trading.
Here's a picture from the ad....
Here's a link with other pic's..... http://ezcars.ca/index.php?pag=details_sold&id=24# It's a 1995 with 153,000 km's (around 95000 miles, I believe) The dealer is asking $15,999 for it. Is that a fair price? I'm not to crazy about the color, but I've never seen it in person, so I can't judge! If anyone of you have a Polo Green vette, I'd love to see 'em! Thanks in advance for any help!

I know that the money is different in Canada, 0.68 to the American dollar, I think, dont hold me to that though. I bought a slick 95 vette in January for $12.000 American money. The Black 95 had 80.000 and was almost perfect, one little spot where the clear was thin, outside of that it was perfect. Hope this helps and I can assure you that you will LOVE your vette if you get it.
Thanks for the responses guy's! I'm sure I will never loose my smile driving a Corvette! My dad had two way back in his day, a 78, and an 80, so he's pressuring me to go with the Vette, then an LS1 F-body, lol!
If that is american dollars it is way too high.I paid much less for a 95 vert with 62k on the speedo 10 months ago.(Black)Can you look in the states?Maybe a Canadian forum member can suggest some vettes for sale in your area. You may want to look in the Buffalo area. The prices will vary upon location.
Good luck.Let us know if you find something. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum.Do not rush into buying the first one unless it is fully checked out by a corvette mechanic or someone on this forum that possibly lives near you that knows all about the vettes.
Thanks for the reply, eventr! Yeah, the price is in Canadian dollars! It's roughly $13,600 U.S. It does seem a little steep. The best I can do is go take a look and see where that goes. I'm not a salesperson or have any friends who work in that business, so I'm ont sure if they will budge on price, we'll see! Thanks guy's!
That price is super high. It is near double what I paid for mine 1 1/2 years ago and I don't have paint problems, and the interior is near perfect. Of course mine is high mileage (195,000 now) but the mechanicals are solid and if it breaks I can fix it. Bottom Line--Keep Looking.
Got my 95 for $11k had 72k miles on it so the price is way high on that Polo. I would suggest you check the rear wheel bearings before you buy any C4.
Thanks for the heads-up Jonnymac!!
Also, Rickreeves1, your car is beautiful!!!
Do you think the dealer has a lot of room to negotiate? I know it's a hard question to ask because everyone is different, but I'm thinking about just trading in my 99GT, it has 144,000km's (89,000 miles) and some cash. Could I start at $13,000? Or would the sales guy laugh? lol!!

Wow, now I know where to go if I ever decide to sell...
There are lots of cars around here, milage low (35-60K), convertibles, some with six speeds, some 1-owner, in very nice condition, in the 13,500 to $15,000 range. Check out some of the professional evaluation companies, start looking around California, Florida, etc. for a car you are interested in, then if you find what you like drop 100-150 bucks for a professional evaluation of the actual car. Then make an offer pending your final approval when they pick you up at the airport with your new car. You can find whatever you want when you use the whole continent for your backyard.
Regardless that's too much even for Toronto prices, for that much mileage.
Ooops, thanks for the correction, 0.68 0.86 still I think that might be a little high for the vette he is looking at. Just a suggestion find a used car lot, make friends with the sales person and see if he will scout around for you a vette. Down here in Texas they will usually charge you $100.00 and look for you a vette. You will surprised at how many outlets they can check for you and usually buy the vette wholesale.

As a straight-up deal the price is too high for the mileage. BTW the ad says 14,999 (CAD 15K, 153k km or $12,750, 92k mi.) Having said that I've heard that Corvettes in Canada go for more than their equivalent in the states simply because there aren't as many (supply and demand, you know). I suggest you check with some Canadian members of this forum to get their impressions of the price. You should also check with them about importing a car from the states. I don't recall the details but I've read here where it's very expensive (taxes) and a real pain with the regulations. Other than that, no matter what car you decide on have it checked out thoroughly by someone who knows these cars and always ask for maintanence records. A well maintained high mileage car is a better deal than a poorly maintained garage queen. Also, 95 = better brakes (J55) and vented optispark.
One more thing:
Polo Green/ Tan interior

There is always someone that will probably chime in saying they got their vette for less and the price is too high. I'd use Kelly Blue Book as a general guide to find out how much the car is worth first given the mileage and overral condition. I think new tires, new brakes, nice upgraded wheels vs. boring stock wheels should factor in as well. My car had all this when I got it, so I was willing to go mid-blue book for a private party buy. Yah, you can get a bargain, but is it really if you have to buy new tires, wheels that you prefer, and new brakes? That could be another $1500 or so out of pocket! KBB also factors in Dealer Prices vs. private party..with dealer prices being around 1,000-3,000 more than a private party. Good luck with your purchase!
