Default antenna problems

My antenna wont go up sometimes when i start my car. And every now and then it doesn't go down right away after shutting it off. Eventually it does go down but i haven't had it come up when driving even when i switch from CD to radio.

I put some WD40 where it pops out thinking it might help lube it up.

It comes up fine 90% of the time so i think the motor is good but why the angry tantrums?

sound like the retraction cable is sticking....The cable is plastic so over time it will wear out. They have replacement cables at ecklers, that's where I got mine. When I replaced the old one I noticed the "grease" was drying out. So I don't think wd40 will help.....try getting grease in there if you can.

The cable "ribbon" is sealed inside the antenna mast and goes to the power motor and is "coiled" inside...It too how ever is a sealed unit. I took my old pwer antenna apart to see how it works. Any way to get to the ribbon I pulled mine out as the antenna came up. And put it back in when it goes down....If you do pull it out make sure you know the same side as the geared and not...It is white in colour...Good luck.
