I found 1993 Coupe for 5,000. It needs alot, paint shot, left front fender has a little damage, interior so-so, heat and a/c inop, right window doesnt go up or down, hole in floorboards left and right, holes have been scab patched, all weatherstrip shot, brakes look pretty rusty, tires about 30% left, wheels have light corrosion on them, trans fluid very dirty and smelly, engine runs a little rough. Acrylic top has hairline cracks in it. Has 191,000 miles. Probably needs other things I missed on first inspection. Thanks for any input.
Sounds high to me. $3000ish would be better. If you're proficient with body and paint work, do all your own mechanical work, have a place to work on it for an extended amount of time, have an understanding family that will not complain about the amount of time you spend with the car and research the cost of items/buy good used parts you could make it work if you can get it closer to the price above.
If any of the above prerequisites cannot be met run like hell it will become a huge money pit.
No offense to you or the seller, but that's clearly a parts car. $5000 is too much. You've established that the car has clearly been neglected. It would need a restoration and it would still have almost 200k miles.
Chcek out the C4 for sale section - HERE. If you have a spending cap, you might be better served going a little older to get a better condition car.
Spend a couple grand more and get a car that's not a basket case.
easier to say than do, but add $3000 to this car's price and you can have nearly the same car, a few years older, with 100,000 less miles on it, not abused, and in decent shape! I'd walk away......fast

No! By the time you get it fixed up, you will have more money in it than what it is worth You could buy one in better shape with less miles for the same amount of money that you will have in the fixer upper. That is my opinion. Good luck on your search J
Here is some advice from someone who is in the situation you are about to get into. I bought a 94 with 50000 miles that was severely neglected, needed brakes, transwork, suspension work and the list goes on. I now have 8000.00 in a car that still needs body work and paint. Weigh your options carefully. I would encourage you to find a car that is either sound mechanically or has a very good body. Not both problems at once that is just too unpredictable and too difficult to project a final cost.
Thanks all thats what I thought. I offered him 2500 which I thought might be a little generous. He laughed at me and said you do know this is a 93 Vette. I said yes I do and went home. Thanks again guys much appreciated. Still searching.
