How difficult would it be to modify the rear speaker ports to accept 6x9's instead of the Bose speakers? I'm going to re-do the interior soon and while I've got everything ripped up, I'd like to get that part ready for the stereo upgrades. Has anyone done this? If so, did you use 6x9's or some other size speaker?
Also, what are the old Bose speakers worth? Once I install the new speakers I'll have no use for them and I figure someone else would probably be able to use 'em cause they're still good (as far as I can tell anyway, I'm not a world class judge of sound quality :))
You must not be good with a phillips head screwdriver! :D Take off the speaker grill and look a little closer at them......
 Ha, I've never taken the covers off, I just assumed that things wouldn't be easy :) Well now, this sounds promising, I'll have to take those covers off today and have a look-see :yesnod:
The only dumb question is the one you don't ask, right? (right! :D)

Well I guess I'll tell you then. Take the covers off, then undo the 4 screws that hold the bose speaker box in. It will pull right out. Unplug it. There is a small "template" that is held in by 4 screws also that basically is the shape of a 6x9 speaker. Remove that template and a 6x9 will drop right in perfectly. :)
