Default Door Adjustment

I have searched the archives and really haven't found the answer. How does one adjust the trailing edge of the door with the body. My door sticks out about 1/8" near the striker. I always thought that simply loosening the striker post and moving it would do the trick. I loosened it and it will not slide for adjustment. I don't want to loosen it too much as I don't want for parts to fall off inside who knows where. Any experiences with this?

The striker (post) screws into a fixed nut on the jamb, and the latch mech. is not adjustable in the door. In other words, it's not adjustable. Any cure involves bending parts and is not recommended. If the door is not even on the top or bottom edge, you can loosen the six bolts that hold the hinge to the door and move it alittle (Rotate top to bottom).

That seems odd that the door can't be adjsted at the striker. I guess that the factory had the fit down to an exact science with no adjustment necessary. I wonder what would cause my door to be this far out of alignment.

Pin, pin bushing and worn housing will make the door out of adjustments. The Bloomington Gold R&R by Gordon K tell and shows exactly how to adjust your door for finger fit control... Has nothing to do with the striker.

Sivek: The door on the driver's side of my 89 protruced a little less than 1/8 inch when closed. A few weeks ago, I had the battery side panel off and took the car to a friend who owns an auto body shop. He worked on the car for about 45 minutes and we got the door to line up almost perfect. Now the adjustment of the door was done by moving the hinges and the hood was up during the procedure. I thought hot damn......got it done! The body shop friend said, hold on, we ain't finished! He opened the driver's door and closed the hood down. He carefully and slowly closed the door and stopped about mid way. The door was about to strike the hood and paint was about to be chipped. He returned the door to its original position and I now like the alignment

Adjusting that door is a real bitch. My story......for whats its worth.

The hinges have no slop and the door lines up nicely everywhere except for it appearing to be slightly ajar when it is closed. If the striker would move in 1/8", then that would fix it.

I have a 95 with the same problem. I removed the striker and found a fixed hole in the fiberglass that does not allow for adjustment. I elongated that hole towards the inside of the car. On mine there is a threaded plate behind the door jam that can move around. This is probally not the correct proceedure but it worked for me.
