Not too many people seem to wave around here. If you initiate a wave and don't get a wave back you kind of look like a jackass. Then again it's possible that because you already look like a complete jackass, that's the reason the other guy didn't wave at you, thus making you look like an even bigger jackass. So I no longer initiate the wave, though I will definitely wave back if someone waves at me.
well...i guess i'll just have to see for myself, since this is all new to me, i'm taking a more positive view, atleast for this driving season, i'll be looking like the idiot waving to all those driving the car of my dreams.
Had a porsche 911 right on my bumper for about 5 miles the other day on a two-land road. Right before he turned off another C4 passed me and we exchanged waves right in front of the 911 - that felt good.

Anyone know if there is a porsche wave?
Yes, but it can't be done while sitting down with pants on.
because i assume they're all a-holes until proven innocent
That's hilarious! We need to get all the other vette owners to join this awesome new tradition. Every time we see another member we flip each other a royal bird, out of respect for each others a-hole inner selves! Would confuse the hell out of the plebs.
I believe after 1997 all corvettes came with a drivers side arm restraint.
When I got my first C4 about 5 years ago, I noticed a lot of C5ers who would not wave. Now they (nearly) all do. I've decided they were just new to the club and ignorant of our customs, as now I find most C6ers don't wave. Noobs.
Since my first Corvette in 1977 up until my current one, I always wave to fellow Corvette owners. It's part of the culture. And if they don't wave back, no hurt feelings either.

that's why the solid middle finger doing the ram-it-up-hard is such a great dual purpose sign......you get the thrill of flipping off your brothers AND your bases are covered by avoiding the embarrassment of being the dork when the favor isn't returned
I wave...when I first got my C4 a local guy in a C6 passed me and waved. I think I hurt my arm trying to wave back in time. Previous posters are right...feels good when a C6 waves. See that guy now and then, now the wave is more subtle but we both still do it.
On a previous wave post I saw a great comment about non-wavers:
1. The car isn't theirs, so they don't know about the wave.
or
2. They are bad drivers. The wave is an acknowledgement of a subculture and brotherhood, but also is a signal from the waving driver that they have enough driving skill to drive the Vette, enjoy it, look at the scenery, and still have enough brain power left to notice another Vette in time to wave. The non-waver is trying so hard not to hit the curb that they didn't even see the wave! Therefore, if you wave, and dont get a return wave, you are not the idiot- the bad non waving driver has affirmed their lack of skills.
The embarrassing part is when I am driving my wife's Matrix and forget that I am not in the Vette and wave at one....awkward.

WTF? That just earned you one these.
Half the time I have both hands whiteknuckling the wheel and my eyes glued to the apex of the turn trying to make the most of all .95Gs of lateral grip.

CC...like I said not my quote, read it on here. I liked it thoug. Deep. By the way, staring AT the apex of the turn is BAD. It's called target fixation. You can't judge the apex when looking at what you 'think' is the apex. You should look through the turn to your exit point, where you want to be with full throttle & near straight wheels. That will automatically bring you to the apex....maybe without the white knuckles! Just bustin chops since you started....
I wave. It's like a hand shake after a round of golf. After all three rounds I played this week I and the others shook hands. Only a real jerk would not shake OR wave in their Vette.
I always wave, and I always give the "thank you wave" if somebody let's me out. But, if I kinda slow down to let somebody out and they don't give me a wave I get pissed
