Default Dash Question

I'm installing new carpet.
How does the right dash pad come off? The piece under the 'bread box'.
I took all the showing screws off, now there is one or two that I can't see. They are attached to the lower black trim from the inside.
Has anyone done this ???

There are 4 studs in the panel (below the lower black trim in your pic) which hold it to the dash frame with 1/2? nuts.

If I remember right, a couple of them weren't too bad to get to, and the two others were a bear. I had my top dash off and all the breadbox bolts out except for the lower left one to be able to get to the nuts holding the carpet panel in place.

Wasn't easy, and scratched my arms up like walking through a briar patch!

If you just talking about the hush pad, it is attached by 4-5 screws only. There's no need to remove the dash or bread box..., and it should be the same as my 87

Are we talking about the same panel?

The one I was referring to isn't the one with the courtesy light in it, but the actual carpeted panel above it that is the one with the studs in it.

My vette is an 85, but I wouldn't expect the construction of this to be different from an 87.

Yes, Vinny is talking about the vinyl piece with the courtesy light. The carpeted piece is a tuff one. I'll take another look at it today.
