Man, what a stupid question :D :D :D Just kiddin. Actually its a 4 speed manual with a 2 speed automatic on the end of it. (overdrive unit) This unit only engages in second, third, and forth. So in theory you have a 7 speed transmission. My experience with it was, to use the 4 speed and then engage overdrive. It would engage itself (automaticially) when shifting into second. And thank God that a L98 has lots of torque because it is a huge RPM drop. Also the overdrive unit was made by Doug Nash.
Man, I never realized how intense buying a vette would be. So much to look for, and then when you do find one that's perfect you wonder why they're selling it. I just want a stock vette, pref 6speed but will sacrifice for an auto if it's convertible. Prefer the 5 spoke rims as well, they look sharp!
It has been said on this Forum before, Buy the latest model you can afford. I agree with this. Each year has improvements. In reality the 4+3 is a 4 speed as far as racing or performance applications go. Second gear overdrive is almost identical to 3rd gear without overdrive If you are looking for a car try to find a 6 speed if autos are not your cup of tea. Good luck in your search!!
