Im going to look at a 93 tomorrow how are they as far as problems go ?
What should i look for ?

I know its a LT1 with 300hp , a Auto trans and Dark Green(pologreen) in color

I would like some opinions from the forum

I have a 86 as we speak and it hasnt been to good so far to me.
I think the 4+3 let go and not sure if i want to spend the money to do a ZF6 or Keisler swap when i can just buy another Vette with some of that money.

I picked up my '93 40th anniversary in Dec. 06. Once you drive it, you'll be impressed. The difference between it and the early C4's is like night and day. Less squeaks and rattles and the LT1 flies! Drive the car and decide. Enjoy!

And when you get it, be sure to show it off to your friend. Maybe he'll ditch the elcamino and get a Corvette too!! Then ya'll could cruise in true LT1 style!

There's nothing out of the ordinary as far as problems go...

If your water pump goes, then there's a 99% chance it will kill your optispark. No opti = dead in the water. The other thing you may have to watch out for is the dreaded VATS problem. Being stranded by VATS is a royal PITA. 1993 was also the first year for the PKE. The PKE can be an annoyance at times, but you can leave the fob at home if you don't want to deal with it.

I believe my 86 has VAT(chip in the key) so i know all about that issue.
What is the PKE not really sure what that is if you can fill me in.

Thanks

Thanks
Passive Keyless Entry.

The key fob has a proximity transmitter, so that when you walk up to your vette (3 to 5 feet from it) , the alarm will automatically disarm itself and the door(s) will automatically unlock. It is particularly annoying when, for instance, you are washing your car and the alarm keeps arming/disarming and the doors keep unlocking and locking. There is a receiver antenna in the driver's side door and the rear hatch area. You can, though, turn off the PKE. You can still arm your alarm manually with the PKE off.

Also, just an FYI, The fobs for the coupe and the vert are different. The fob for the coupe has two buttons, one to unlock the doors and the other one to open up the hatch. The vert fob will only have a single button to unlock the doors. P.S. I think the vert has the PKE antenna in both doors, whereas the coupe is the one with an antenna in the driver's door and rear bumper/hatch area.

I had a 85 and an 89 and once you drive the 93 even with the sissy 2.59 rear gears if so equipped you'll be sold.

check the options on the car.FX3 can be vary expensive to repair. If it has sport seats make sure all pumps and motors work lumbar bladers inflate seat goes up down back and forth. You should see a service ride control light if FX3 is not working.check codes if possible. As stated the LT1 is worth the ride good luck Tim

Well, if you've had expensive 4+3 problems, I guess I can understand the move to auto trans. I owned 6spd '93 from new. I think it was a great car, and the color is superb, Polo Green.

As mentioned, probably only the opti and the auto trans are the issues to be concerned with. It IS a 15 year old car, so, of course, that's to be taken into consideration. Before you make the decision, make sure it goes up on a lift and gets a thorough going over by you or your tech/mech.

Finally, a carfax would put some other issues potentially to rest. Tell us all about it after the ride.

BTW, I had the keyless entry, and it was ok, better in fact I think than the '96 keyless entry (which I left in the kitchen drawer ).

check the opti and waterpump... OIl leaking at the rear and front of the intake is a common problem. These problems are weekend fixes though. Enjoy the potential 93

Well i took the vette out for a test spin.
What a bute..She is.

The car is Polo green with tan (saddle i want to say it is) insides

The vette is in very good shape for a 93 and has some sack.
Cant believe what ive been missing all this time and the LT1 what a differants to my L98.

so it looks like i will be getting this Vette and saying goodbye to my 86 Vette.

To go from a stick to a auto doesnt really bother me much.
To be honest its a little more relaxing not having to shift in traffic.

When i do get her i will post some pictures.
Hope to have her by next week the lastest.

Till then thanks forum for all your info.

ASR = Acceleration Slip Regulation = Traction Control

ASR began in '92, The ASR on/off button is located above your headlight switch. The ASR ECU monitors drive wheel speeds, vehicle reference speed, speed diff of non-driven wheels, front-to-rear wheel speeds, vehicle accleration and throttle position.

Basically it annoys the hell out of everyone, so the easiest thing is to just always turn it off when you start up the car.
