does the passengers door work? what about the one under the console?
if they both work, replace the door switch. that would be a great start... the other option means removing the door panel and using a DVM to test the harness.
[QUOTE=John Vuckovich;1560231745]I meant to say rear hatch or the space behind the seats. Had no idea I had to spell it out. [/QUOTE. Oh,that trunk switch, well as stated you have 3 switches, how many of them work, year of the car?

Although no help to fix the actual problem, I just want to point out that not ALL year C4's have a switch on the passenger door.
I know my 1996 only has two (drivers door, and inside console). Two the OP, that is why it's always important to list what year car you are asking about. The C4 ran for 13 years, and there were many changes made to it through out that span
What year is your C4? Early C4s had three switches (driver's side, passenger's side, console) while later ones (I think as of 1991, but I'm not sure) no longer had the passenger's side switch.
If the other switch(es) work than it's probably a problem with the actual switch or the associated wiring inside the door. Was something else fixed on the driver's side door recently?

The trunk switch on the inside of my drivers side door doesn't work, a fuse or ?
Any suggestions for the novice fixer?
Thx a million
On my car the switch that senses the door open is what was killing the hatch release function of the "hatch release switch" on the driver door. The door open sensor gets gummed up from road grime. The first time I hit it with CRC silicone spray and that freed it up, but now it needs a thorough flush with WD-40, or a switch replacement. My car is a 94.
My hatch switch stopped working as well. After reviewing all the suggestions on this post, I came across this one. "The switch that senses the door open is what was killing the hatch release function of the "hatch release switch" on the driver door". Sure enough, a squirt or two of WD40 and I'm back in business. My wife thanks you for the info. She's tired of fishing her shopping bags out through the front.
If your having any problems with the dome light not coming on or the radio not going off when you open the door... it might be a door ajar switch.
(sounds like Jeff Foxworthy giving advise)

I guess I'll be buying some WD40 on the way home tonight. My dome light and hatch both stopped working at about the same time 2 weeks ago and I've been wondering how to fix them.
