Anything that you know of that would be damaging to a corvette?...Besides the Fram filter.
Im talking about products in general that are sold on the market.
Not products just sold for the Corvette, But im sure some are out there.
1- I guess can be Jiffy Lube because people cant turn a wrench or are Lazy and take their car to a place like that.
And BTW they use FRAM made filters.
If you want to put a FRAM filter on your corvette NC KIDD thats your choice but most forum members would not use them do to their history of being faulty.
But I would NOT put FRAM on any of my cars I only use AC Delco and they are proven to be MUCH better than FRAM and studies show that.
And that what came on our cars from day one
So guess you cant go wrong
I agree with Corvette Kid, et. al. and pre-fill the filter at every oil change. Learned this back in the 60s when I had two 427's with the slip-in filter/canister. An experienced mechanic with a gorgeous 1961 taught me the trick and told me to always use the OEM filters. By pre-filling the filter, the engine lube system was never without oil. (this was pre-synthetic oil days). I use either the Delco OEM or the Mobil 1 filters. I did not know about the Fram quality until I read some of the threads / articles posted / referenced on the forum. Guess my old friend was ahead of his time, and correct in his analysis.
They're currently owned by Honeywell, but a cutaway of their current, entry-level filter offerings will show you they're still taking risky manufacturing shortcuts.
(Head scratch).... Now I have to go back and look under my car because the last time I changed my oil filter I did it after reading forum oil change threads. I don't know what I have under there anymore.
I only use the K&N... it is a very good filter, but also because it has that damned nut on it!!!
Also, cheap filters can rupture at the seams. I remember on the old Honda Prelude forum I frequented (eons ago, it seems), a guy had a Supra Turbo explode a cheap jiffy lube filter. tore it wide open.

Next time you're at the autoparts store, look for the Mobil M1-302 filter and compare it with the AC Delco 454. I'm using the M1 on my truck. It might scrape the ground if put it on the vette though.
Although I suppose the LT1 uses a different filter than the gen-1 SBC anyways.
