Skip the pearl!!! Stay with Black Rose. As you've already learned, most Corvette people like the Black Rose...but many might not like it if it's pearled! Stay with the original.

I just had my orig. black '92 LT1 painted in Black Rose. My question is, what is with the roof panel, mine is black but it just doesn't look right. Was black the original panel color or was it Black Rose???

Wouldn't know where to get the panel tinted here in Germany.

Keep the original color!!! It will be worth more at selling time also. My 91 is turquise metalic [teal] I get all the gay comments too. I tell them "as a heterosexual i am proud and love my *** green vette!" Like you said in your post, you like the color, keep it&enjoy it Ed

Pearl can be a royal PITA to match if the car would get damaged or if you have assorted door dings or road rash after a few years. The pearl paint jobs I have seen actually seem to dull the color some. IMHO, pearl seems to work better with light colors like whites, creams and light color shades like yellows, blues or greens . There is a lot of metallic to the Black Rose and that will show up in bright light.

I would be asking for extra clear when you have the paint done. Doing that will alow the painter to do some final sanding with 2000 grit before buffing the finish.

My former C4 was black rose. Got a lot of compliments from strangers but a few of my neighbors would give me chit for the color. Funny when I got rid of that one my next one was straight black the same people found something else to rip on me for. Bottom line is if someone wants to rip on you than they will no matter what you do. Who cares? If you like the color keep it. If you don't than change it. It's not a gullwing Mercedes or a vintage Ferrari do what you have to to make yourself happy with the car or sell it and buy what you really want.

If the dark rose purple color is history how close can they come to matching it? I'd definitely stick with that color over black. Black is a dime a dozen.

With computer blending and mixing of factory paints based on color codes, a good painter should be able to exactly match a factory color. It's when you start doing additives like pearls and extra metallics or tints is when you can run into problems.

Even if there is some fading, it's not that tough for an experienced paint guy to get a color right. Blending a repainted area is important as much as getting the paint applied properly.

Something to consider...You can always lightly dust over the Black Rose paint with a fine metallic flake. Nothing too "blingie", but just enough to make pop at different angles.

If you don't like the color change it. If you like the color and your friends don't, keep the black rose.

I'd skip the black with a black interior; (Black pops with a red interior) however, yellow with a black interior pops and its not ghey.
