Hi All, My Vette got sideswiped and now it's in the body shop getting fixed. My question is should I stay with the original dark rose purple, or go with a more traditional color like black? Interior is black. I get a lot of comments from friends that say the purple is a 'gay' color. Not that I care, I really like the purple, but I also want to be practical and know that should I need to sell the Vette, I need a traditional color.
Thanks in advance.
IMHO, Black Rose Metallic is a great color and is nowhere near "ghey". Tell your friends that its more "Burgandy" or "Wine" color rather than purple. It wasn't that popular a color (1,886 in '92, 935 in '93, 1,276 in '94) but when it's clean and multiple coats of Zaino are on it, it is very sharp looking.
A color change done properly will add a bunch of money to re-paint costs. Black is nice but harder to take car of; dust and dirt will show up and be more visible. A great black paint job requires lots of body prep. Black paint will cause any defects or imperfections in the body to show up and stand out in bright light.
Keep the black rose! It's one of the prettiest colors out there. I've seen alot of them (wish I had one) at the shows, and have never heard anything but raves about how beautiful they are. As a matter of fact, I've NEVER heard this gay thing outside of this forum. When some one tells you it's "gay" they probably have more intimate knowlege of the situation then us "straights" do!
KEEP THE BLACK ROSE !!
I had a blcak rose and the ONLY reason I sold it was for the Copper Metallic.
That is and always will be a great color!!

That color is awesome! Keep it because of its "rare" appeal, but also because its the original color it came with, i.e. "original" and cheaper to re-paint.
keep the rose because in some lighting it almost looks black anyways.... purple is fine as long as its done right... and the black rose is a purple done right.

Well, the good news is that black is not a stark contrast to black rose. So, if the color were changed, and spots were not addressed, they wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. Or like he had gone to red.
But I agree, I like black rose. If someone gives you grief, ask them what color their Vette is?

Keep the Black Rose. It's a great color that was only offered 92 - 94. In fact, it's the color of the car shown at the top of this forum. In 95 and 96 there was a color Dark Purple Metalic and the two are not the same.

Thanks for the input, I'm keeping the Black Rose. I think I'll spring for pearling and make it awesome. Mario at Coal Creek Collision is pretty talented in the booth from what I've seen.
