RickReeves summed it up well, this is going to a racecar pretty much, with a corvette body. And yes, i have labeled EVERY nut and bolt taken off this car. And im sure it will shock you, but this car will be running high 12's low low low 13's in 3 months, and under 6K. yall just dont know how to budget like a poor college student
teaser pic of whats REALLY behind a C4 dash
Need a hood for this project? You'll have room for whatever intake you want to run under this one... (yes, it's for sale)
wow, that hood is pretty nasty looking (in a good way)!!! but im looking for something more suttle so i can shock ppl THINKING its a stock c4. Im going to try to squeeze the 350 under a stock hood, but i think i might have to get a 2" cowl. If so, ill figure that out, the hood is really the LAST piece going back on this project. But that hood looks great, is the scoop fiberglassed to it, bolted on or what? almost looks like factory job. O and im re upholstering my top, so thats today project if i can get the fabric and what not.
Got a few more things done headliner, and some engine bay stuff. heres pics..
Now since im not running heating or A/C, i need to cover the holes in the firewall. Heres basically what im doing. It needs to be trimmed alittle neater and painted black. But i think it looks all right...
sorry the pics are so bad, i have a really old camera. Hopefully this next will be a good week, should be ordering a good bit of parts and hopefully getting the tranny built. ill keep yall updated.
you know it! haha. I just ordered some iggee's seat covers, and a redline shifter boot, that all should be here in about 2 weeks. Im gunna try to start installing the new wiring harness tommorow, so well see how that goes.
the more i look at it, im probably gunna have to have someone wire up the car, it just might be out of my skill level. Engine should be here in a month, and im gunna decide about the tranny this week, so should have it in maybe 2 weeks. I still cant find the rear/larger brake fitting that goes to the master cylinder!!! If yall have one laying around i need it!
dropped the car off to get wired up, tranny is getting rebuilt as we speak, and engine should be here in 2-3 weeks. My question is how much is resonable for a shop to charge me to wire the car up, not the engine, just the windows, locks, cd player, lights, just the basics. Im going to do the engine and gauges myself. But what do yall think is fair? around $400? let me know what ya think.
no help with the price estimate? talked to the guy today, the more i think about, maybe $500-$600 might be fair but he made it seem like a bigger job than I think it is, but hes the pro i guess.... Anyways, got the tranny back, it was $1650 for a performance build and new housing. (please dont ask why i needed a new housing, the "friend" wont ever turn a wrench on my car again!) Not super expensive but I didnt really want to spend over 1300 on it. So far im at about $5300 and all thats left is wiring, fuel cell, fuel lines, and some brake odds and ends. Im hoping the total car wont cost me over $6500, but well see...... Pics up soon

I may be new to Corvettes, but I do know wiring in general. It can be VERY, VERY time consuming. Especially when it comes to troubleshooting all the little problems that ALWAYS pop up after doing a complete rewire.
I work as an avioinics tech (aircraft electronics) and have installed many thousands of feet of wire over the years.
To rewire even just the interior I would say would take several days. So to have someone do it I would think would cost much more than $400, especially with all the interior pieces you have to remove and reinstall.
Trying to thread wire bundles behind/under a dash, through doors, etc can be a big P.I.T.A!
I have all the interior pieces out, and am going to reinstall them. I just wanted a shop to run the wire, thats it. BUT i got the quote, get ready to $2500!!! Im pretty sure they just didnt want the job and thought if i would pay $1500 more than it really cost they would do it. but whatever, anyone recomend any good car wiring books? looks like this project is getting pushed back to Christmas, but the engine and tranny will still be in soon. Then when i have time between school it will get wired up and running. Ill keep yall updated. Thanks for sticking with me through the project!
Wow....$2500. Are they making a whole new wiring harness or what. Not sure if it would work or not but have you tried looking at some of Painless Wiring's harnesses. They do get expensive but not sure about some of the smaller end 12 circuit harnesses or not. Just a thought.
It sounds like your'e pretty competent, so don't sell yourself short. I'd try to do the wiring myself, if it were me. Do some research, get some books and get to it. I bet you will do a fine job. It may need some tweaking when you're done, but nothing that can't be corrected.
By the way, how the heck do you have time to do all of this? I remember when I was in college I barely had time to study. I was working at the time, so if you're not, that explains it.
