Strange things happened to my Vette. Put my 90 coupe in the garage to wash the wheels. Did the wash, and rinse and then the tire shine stuff. Then I went to start the car it just gave a little sigh and every thing was dark. I thought "Oh s--- dead battery or shorted starter. I opened the hood and the lights were on under the hood. I checked the voltage on the battery and it was 12 volts. I couldn't check it under load wifey wasn't home. I then opened the door and the lights under the hood went out. What the hell!. I then went for the shop manual although chasing electrons is not my bag. I opened the door again and the hood lights stayed on. What the hell?. I tried to start the car again and it did not start. I read the manual for a couple of minutes but other than the starter i was puzzeled. I went back in the car about five minutes later and all the interier lights were on. I turned the key and it started up and the ABS lights came up on the dash. I disconnected the battery to clear the code and it has started just fine and runs perfect. What the hell could have happened? Allentown Ernie.
Glass cars are notorious for gound problems, check all your major grounds. I have also known battery ground cables that looked fine to have intermittent ground problems. As a general rule I just replace my battery cables periodically (like every ten years), they aren't that expensive.
Thanks gentlemen, I will shine up the keys and hope it doesn't happen again because as I said before chasing electrons is not my cup of tea. Allentown Ernie
