Default Still No Go

I just changed the opti and water pump. Went through the same crap everyone else does with the balancer pulley, etc.

Put it all back together. Turn the key and it still won't start. It does however seem to puff or backfire through the throat which it wasn't doing before.

It seems like it is possibly out of time, but is that possible? The opti shaft is keyed so it can only fit on correctly. Or am I missing something here?

I'm not looking forward to tearing this thing apart again.

Thoughts?

New Opti. New Timing Chain and Gears. New Wires. New Plugs. New Fuel Pump. (I am confident that all are installed correctly)

Still No Start. Thoughts?

I was confident the last opti I installed was done properly too until the third time I redone it "properly" and got the opti and keyway seated 100% correct...it will install lined upright but not seated right and you will get exactly what you are getting. First thing to check is the plug wires, VERY EASY to get them out of sequence. With all and I mean ALL of the coolant out, when you take it back apart, you can start it up for a minute or so with the water pump off, just remember to hook up ect sensor and mass air flow and try it before you re assemble all the way.

I've checked and double checked and triple checked the plug wires. I've had the opti in and out so many times that I was finally convinced that it must have been faulty from the manufacturer and took it back and got a new one. Still no luck. Is there some magic?

The drive pin MUST go ALL the way into the timing cover, it can appear to be all the way in but it wont be, Same thing with the opti - side. it is EASY to mess up the alignment when putting the opti on, are you putting the drive pin in the opti first then putting it through the timing cover while its in the opti or are you putting it in the timing cover first them putting the opti on (my way). The opti must fit flat on every bolt hole, if one corner isnt exactly flat , its in wrong, take it off one more time and then hook up the ECT sensor and mass air flow and crank it with it apart, just dont let it get hot. Triple check plug wires and coil wire.

I just changed the timing chain and gears. I am confident that the shaft is correct in the timing cover . I am placing the opti onto the shaft as you suggest.

If you are confident the opti in on right and the spark plug wires are right, then its time to re-evaluate the gear and chain.

Were the computer or injectors bad before you swapped opti and gears? Meaning go with most simple answer, you are getting out of time symptoms...so what is out of time (opti, chain, gears, plug wires)

It's not acting any different now than it did when it first died alongside the road.

Default fuel injectors?

I checked the resistance of the fuel injectors today and found some inconsistencies. Below are the results. What do you guys think?

#1 - 5 ohms
#2 - 14-15 ohms
#3 - 5 ohms
#4 - 13 ohms
#5 - 5 ohms
#6 - 5 ohms
#7 - 5 ohms
#8 - 5 ohms
