Lesson learned- 86L dash bulb replacement
So I had an hour to kill on Saturday. I have a new instrument cluster bezel, new headlight swith, and finally a bulb to replace the burned out gauge backlight. I've read the help on here about the replacement- it had been a while since I've read it but ought to be pretty simple. The bulb I had had a socket with it- the old one looked pretty burned. So I start trying to get the socket out. I eventually drop it down out of sight. That's okay I figure- I'll just screw in the new one. After an hour of trying to figure out how to screw it in, I get so frustrated I decide to pull the entire cluster so I can get at it. I finally take it apart- and let loose the biggest Homer Simpson "D'oh" possible. You can't install the sockets from the front! You've got to split the circuit boards. Nothing like a one hour repair that turns into three.
