Default waterpump

I have a new water pump for my 95, I do not have pump problems as yet at 72k. How long would it take to change the pump, given average mechanical ability. Thank you. Mike

I would guess an hour and a half, draining the coolant and refilling etc.

Question

When you drain coolant how do you avoid getting coolant on you opti when you remove water pump??

I heard there is still alittle coolant in block once waterpump is removed can get on your opti.

Just wondering

Remove the knock sensor to drain coolant from the block, you can cover your opti with a plactic bag and put a towel on top of that.
I pull the lower hose first which drains most of the coolant.

there is a hex plug in the other side of the block, mirror of the knock sensor. Pulling both plus the rad end of the lower hose will completely drain the block.
