Default window tinting

I've been getting prices to get this done. My question is, most places seem to be making a big deal out of doing the back window which has me concerned. Anyone had problems with tinting on the hatch/window peeling or other issue??

Well, the deal with that is because they have to heat and stretch the tint. It will cost more than a normal car. I paid $170 for mine and it looks great. No problems.

If the shop cannot do it in one piece then find another shop that can and will.

You Definitely do not want to get it done where they use more than one piece. It won't look the same. And another thing. DO NOT do it yourself. It won't look good when you put it on, and it won't last. I might do it with another car, but when it's on a Vette, get it done right. Get it done professionally. Zak.

Tinting is not one of the easiest things to do and i've seen a LOT of people mess it up. Even if it looks right when you first get it on there it might stretch, tear, or warp if you dont have it just right.

As a suggestion, check with several dealers in the local area and talk with the folks who do the tinting for the dealer. They usually do their work at several dealerships during the week, and most have their own shops. I had my 94 done back in March (all 3 windows0 for $155.00 w/lifetime warrenty on install and material. They included the removal of the old tint in the price. Here is a pic of the 1 piece tint job on the hatch:

Good luck and as ssuggested before don't try it yourself unless you have no problems with messing it up and having to have someone replace it and be darn carefull if you have the defroster grid on your hatch.

I've been tinting windows for years (on the side) and did my own. The rear was'nt to bad, I spent lots of time with the heat gun but it looks great.
If you have never tinted before take it to a shop, if you have some experence give it a try, if it does not work out you're only outta $15-$20 bucks.

Just look around until you find a good deal. I had several guys quote me well over $200, but the place I got it done was at a great price for great quality. Plus they give a lifetime warantee from peeling, fading, and whatever else can happen to them. LOL

Bought my '85 with the windows already tinted. Although both the drivers and passenger side door windows are showing a few small pock marks, the hatch tinting is holding up very well. I have no clue as to when exactly the tinting was done.
